Don’t let your dog train you! Use these tips to help turn your pet into a responsive and obedient member of your family. Dogs are a big responsibility, but once they have been trained successfully, they serve as priceless, loving companions. Follow the simple strategies in this article to turn your dog into a best friend.

Dogs are creatures of habit. If you customarily take them out for their walk at the same time every night, they will grow to expect that walk, even to depend on it. Missing the scheduled date by even just a few minutes can result in an accident for the younger dog and even for the older one.

Digging can be a troublesome behavior with some dogs. One way to address this is to create an area where your dog is allowed to dig. Hide some of his favorite toys in the area, bury dog treats, and encourage him to spend time there. This can keep your dog out of your favorite garden and help him to enjoy your yard.

When training a dog to a leash it is important to keep the leash loose. Dogs are often eager to explore new territory when they get the opportunity to go for a walk.

While running around and socializing with other dogs will be sure to tire him out, he will not receive the structure needed to curtail any over-the-top behavior. Consider a dog-walking service to let your dog stretch his legs during the day, instead.

If you can stick to the tips in this article, your dog will show improvement. Training your dog can be an enjoyable part of ownership. It will be difficult, frustrating, and dirty at times, but if you keep at it, your pooch can learn to be a pleasant and helpful companion.

Any age of dog can learn something new. Some learn quicker than others and all have to be galvanized.

Teaching a dog anything whatsoever should be based primarily on positive dog training techniques. Motivate, reward and reinforce is a method that will provide the best dog training results.

Choose a behavior or trick that you would like to encourage your dog to carry out. The following process will work for anything within reason that you'd like to teach your dog to do.

To provide an example I will use the option of teaching the dog to bark on command.

This process can be carried out with a clicker or a praise word to pinpoint the necessary behavior.

Inspire

Show your dog the reward that he will earn if he offers the behaviour. He hasn't any idea what you would expect from him and the trick of positive dog training is to let him work it out for himself.

With barking you could need to build the dogs disappointment a little so use quite a high price reward, something he really likes.

Reward

Then by keeping the reward in sight simply ignore everything the dog does aside from the behaviour. Do not expect him to offer the particular behavior right away, remember he should work it out. As quickly as he offers something that may lead to the required behavior pin down it with a clicker or praise word then offer the reward.

Whilst waiting for a dog to bark I can reward anything that could be a preface to the bark. A tiny whine at the beginning is fine. The smallest sound is something to build on.

Reinforce

Whenever you supply a tiny reward you are building a chain that will lead directly to the final and desired behaviour. The dog is learning continuously toward an end result. The nicest thing about positive dog training is the dog working out which behavior offers a reward, learning at its handiest.

Reinforcement of the smallest sound will inspire the dog to supply more with his whine. Ultimately with careful reinforcement this whine will increase and become a bark.
