You can find budget packs of shampoos in gallons costing only a dollar or two or even super expensive shampoos that cost more than your own. Give Your Puppies The Perfect Name

Author: Ashley Houston

Have you finally decided on getting a puppy? You surfed the Internet countless times and spent so many hours talking to dog breeders just so you can find the perfect puppy for you and your family. To look and meet puppies, you went from doghouses to doghouses, to dog associations, and to animal societies until you have found the right one.

Here’s the question: What should you name your puppy?

Throughout his lifetime, you will use the dog’s name over 35,000 times. So, make sure that you choose a name that you and your family will love.

Below are some tips to help you find the perfect name for your puppy.

Dogs understand brief commands and this is something you should keep in mind. Because of this, names should be easy to remember. Choose names with two syllables or lesser because these will work well. Don’t expect that your dog would be able to respond to you immediately when you named him “John Dewey McArthur”.

The name that you give your puppy should not sound like the rest of the commands. For instance, you shouldn’t name your dog “Stacy.” This particular name sounds a lot like the command “stay.” Your dog will only be confused if you give them that name.

Remember that you will be using the dog’s name in public. It would be better to think twice prior to naming your pet something that you would prefer not be repeated when you are out and about.

Make sure to ask your kids what they want to name the dog. Allow your kids to participate in the name decision process. If they want to call the dog “Tootsie” or “Champ,” then let them. When it in front of other people, reserve your funky names.

You may believe that it would be an honor for your Uncle Tom or best friend Bobby if the dog is named after them. Maybe naming your baby after them might honor them, but naming your puppy after them won’t.

It would probably be better to stick with its old name if you decided to bring home a dog that is quite older. But what if the dog’s name is “Barney” which is exactly the name of your ex whom you had a bitter breakup with? If that’s the case, you can stick with other sounds similar to it.

Once you’ve picked a name, see if it works out. It’s likely you’ll know if it works. If not, then replace it by choosing one of the many dog names available out there.

By following these tips, naming your puppy will be fun for everyone.

When going away or struggling with a hectic work life, it can be difficult to find someone to look after your pet. You do not want to bother your friends and family but you also do not want to give into kennels. This is where you should be looking at professionals who take pride in their dog walking, pet sitting or dog boarding abilities.

Whether you decide to opt for a professional company or someone who is self-employed, there are many more benefits to having somebody in your home looking after your dog, rather than taking them to a generic kennel, even kennels that have been recommended by people that you know.

Having someone to look after your dog while you are away has benefits for your pet. One of the first advantages means you do not have to put the animal into a kennel and it stays in its own environment. It can stick to a regular routine and its usual diet. Dogs are like humans in the way that they like routine, that way they know what they are doing and it can help them stay fit and healthy.

Travelling and new places can be harmful to your pet, they find going to new surroundings traumatic, and especially when surrounded by people they do not know who are looking after them. A kennel can also mean being surrounded by other pets and a lack of care and love. By having one person that is used to looking after animals, your pet can be cared for the whole time that you are away, which will help it to stay happy and healthy.

There are also benefits for you, as the owner. The main one is that fact that you know that your pet is being looked after by a caring person. Most businesses that look after animals is owned and run by caring people and animal lovers. You will be more secure knowing that your dog will be looked after if it comes down with an illness or contracts an infection. By using a professional, you can also be safe in the knowledge that other aspects of your dog’s care can be taken care of, such as feeding, grooming and exercise.

It can also mean that your house is also more secure. The sitter will be in and out of your home on a daily basis, which will deter thieves from breaking in and stealing anything. There may also be times that the person you have hired will stay the night to look after you pet, which will keep it, and your animal, secure during the most dangerous time.

So if you have found your work schedule increasing so you cannot take your dog for a walk or you are planning on going away for a few weeks, it is time to consider a dog walking, dog boarding or pet sitting business to help you and your pet feel more comfortable.

Most puppies lose their moms at an early age. The mom might die or run away leaving the young puppy orphaned. This can also happen when the mom is not able to make even milk.

Orphaned puppies right after birth will have to be taken to see the vet so that they can start feeding. Orphaned puppies can easily be taken care of by the owner when its feeding problem is sorted out.

Been around puppies as they grow up can be fun. You get to spend a lot of time around them. Feeding and bathing them must be done on a regular schedule however and this can be a little time consuming.

Utmost care must be placed on their well-being however. They must be properly socialized and nurtured. They must also checked regularly to prevent diseases from cropping up as they will no be fed from an artificial source. The place where they are must be clean and neat.

As puppies demand special consideration you must always be aware of this and decide if you can go through the process. This is especially so for orphaned ones.

Special care must be taken when feeding the puppy. It must always be on its belly and not on its back. This must be done through tubes or bottles. Bottles are however safer as they do not pass straight into the lung and choke the puppy.

Choosing the perfect food can be worrying. However puppy formulas are mostly safer and rich in nutrients that are balanced to meet your puppy’s needs. Common food formulas used are Esbilac and Puppylac. A wrong diet will be to use cow or goat milk. Raw eggs are also unsafe as they contain enzymes that create a deficiency in the puppy. Honey is extremely not good for puppies.

The puppies require this amount of calories the next four weeks after birth. Week one: 60-69, week two: 70-79, week three: 80-89 and finally week four: 90-100.

A puppy feeding habits must be carefully watched so that they don’t end up being overfed or underfed. If you are using puppy formula which is recommended then you will be fine by sticking to the amount stated on the label.

If you stick with still feeding them more than they really should then you must exercise them more to prevent them from being overweight and avoid sicknesses like heart problems, respiratory and muscular problems.

Prevention they say is always better than cure. Why try curing when it can be prevented in the first place since the effects might even have taken place already. Avoiding obesity is founded of the same rule. Keep the puppies well fed. Increase their diet when there are growing lean until they get to a normal state and then maintain that. Reduce their food however if they are increasing more than they should.

Try to exercise them some more to build up their immune systems. A healthy puppy will mostly be disease free and fit. It will not catch common sicknesses from its playmates.

A dog’s temperature must be between 99.5 and 102.5 degrees. When trying to get dogs to reduce their weight special care must be taken so that they don’t exceed or go below this temperature. The checking of their temperature must be done two to three times a week.

The way to check its temperature is by inserting the thermometer into its rectal. It must be properly lubricated with petroleum jelly or mineral oil and then slide halfway into the rectal. You can always see the vet to show you how to do this.

After three minutes you can take it out. If the temperature is abnormal you must report it to the vet immediately.

Always use the right thermometer to get the right temperature.
