Dog Training Ultimate Guide

Dog behaviorial school – when everything else fails.

I walk my dog all the time. She loves to meet other dogs. However, she gets overexcited when she sees other dogs and sometimes wines when she can’t go meet them. She begins to jump and wants to play with other dogs. Sometimes the other owner, doesn’t want their dog to be greeted. I am just curious to ask why does she continue to do this, and how can I solve her little problem?
She is just 1 and half years old. We rescued her. She is a happy little dog, she enjoys being around other dogs and playing. She just wants to always play.
She is cross between Sharpai and Yellow Lab Retriever. She walks very close to me when we are walking. She has no problem, listening to me on commands when we walk. She sits at corners and is calm. It’s only when she sees other dogs, she gets excited and wants to be friendly.

It’s a movie about talking dogs but no one says anything about the fact that the dogs are talking – they only say something about the fact that a dog can not jump that far in reality. Thats an example but it happens a lot i’ve noticed. People will comment on – dogs wouldn’t do that but never about the talking.

Or how people are watching an action movie, a car will crash and catch on fire and they will say – A car wouldn’t do that, but they never say anything about one man defeating a hundred ninjas with knives etc.

Have you noticed this?? Why does this happen.

I am training a foster 2yr old right now. He only knows sit. I still have trouble with my other dog jumping up. He obeys no jump sometimes but gets crazy when he’s excited.

You just bought the dog so he isn’t trained yet. Will the dog jump or is the dog smart enough to know he should not jump because it will hurt without you having to train him/her.

I would prefer an experienced agility trainer to answer this, and I’d love a link/resource, etc.

How can I calculate how tall the dog’s agility jump should be? Like how tall would the jumps in an actual agility course be, what are the proportions for this/the equation?

I do have AKC’s booklet bookmarked but I cannot find where it says the actual ratios. Please be as detailed as you can in this answer if you want the 10 points (:
