Dog Training Ultimate Guide

Dog behaviorial school – when everything else fails.

If your dog jumps into water, and has trouble getting out due to rocks or a steep shoreline, what’s the proper safe way to help it out? I saw a girl grab her lab by the collar to help him out of a pond, but was wondering if this hurts the dog at all. He was a pretty big dog, and I don’t think she could have picked him up

Of course it’s best not to let your dog go into water that it can’t get out of, but sometimes dogs will find a way in no matter what.

A neighbor’s dog repeatedly jumps the tall privacy fence into my backyard. It has torn up some flowers and defecated all over. The dog is friendly, but I’m getting sick of it. I’ve repeatedly taken the dog back to its house. The owner apologizes profusely, but isn’t doing much to change the situation. He continues to let his dog out unattended, even though he knows the dog can jump fences.

Since talking to the neighbor hasn’t helped at all (and it’s been 6 months), I need to find another solution. I’m sick of coming home to find feces on my porch and my flowers strewn all over the yard. What options do I have? I don’t want to start a big feud with the neighbor, but enough is enough.

My dog does not jump on counters or table tops. But when he meets someone he likes he jumps up to put his paws on their shoulders. He is very friendly and he is just wanting to say Hello, but he is too big to do that kind of stuff. He is tall and weighs in at 100 pounds. I tell him to stay down and hold his collar but just as soon as we think he calm and cool, he takes his chance to jump on people.

He also gets very upset when I do not give him attention when he begs for it. Like if I am sitting at my desk or reading a book, he will start pacing and growling. His tail is wagging furiously. And I have tried completely ignoring him but then he will bark louder and he will lunge at me and hit me hard with his paws, as if to say I AM HERE!!!

he knows better than to jump on people but he does it anyway. What can I do? He is trained and knows all his commands but he still jumps.
I do make him and stay when people come into our house. That is not the problem. He will listen and as soon as I turn to walk into the sitting room he is on the guests….
