Caring for a blind dog can be kind of tricky sometimes. Everything can be smooth sailing if it’s done right. It’s only normal that you feel sorry for the pet because of what has happened to it and its current situation, but don’t make your dog dependent on you completely.

The home is a very important place for you as well as your pet. It’s were family gets together, comes to visit, and have great gatherings. If you have not already done so, make him a part of the family. Dogs are very loving animals and love attention and affection just as we humans do.

The first part is up to you. You have to set up some rules and regulations. Your pet may be blind, but he can still hear, smell, taste, and feel. Your house should always be clean and tidy. Try your best not to switch furniture around too much and leave things out of place. This could confuse the dog and could even send him into a panic.

Just because the new family member can’t see, that does not mean that he is not capable of doing things on his own. Do not disable him. Your dog can become very self sufficient, but only if you give him the chance to. Surely there will be a few things that he will not be able to do, but let him explore a little.

When you bring your new best friend home, make sure he or she feels welcomed. Dogs can sense emotions and feelings very well. Before you let him walk around and get used to things, take him through every part of his new home. If there are places in the house where he shouldn’t be, don’t make that part of the route. This way, he won’t be used to going in, out, or around these specific areas.

At first, keep him on a leash when you walk him throughout the home. Name things as you walk past them. You are doing this to get him familiar with the settings. He will also remember how every room smells.

Be cautious at all times. They are just like babies in some ways. If you have steps anywhere in the home, make sure that the dog can’t reach them. You don’t want him to fall down the steps and get hurt in any way. Use a dog rail to block off the stairs. If you have a baby guard, feel free to use it for the same purpose.

It’s also a good idea to purchase a bell and a whistle. The bell is placed around the dog’s neck. Make sure it’s not too tight, but you don’t want it really loose either. The bell will help you tell where the dog is around the house. The whistle is for your dog as well, but for you to use of course! You can teach him to respond to certain whistle codes.

Having a dog with a disability can be confusing and challenging, and when you have a blind dog, you may want to get details and information about how to help them adjust. Now you can find blind dog articles that will answer all of your concerns fast and easy!

The time and effort you put into pet training can yield many benefits. You may want to establish household rules, curb unwanted behavior, or keep your animal from danger. Or you may simply want to teach an intelligent animal to perform amusing tricks. Whatever your motivation, training will provide your pet with attention, encouragement and stimulating mental exercise. The most enjoyable and effective form of training makes use of positive reinforcement.

Animals naturally learn to repeat actions that lead to desirable outcomes. Positive reinforcement works by rewarding pets when they do something right as opposed to punishing them when they do something wrong. Rewards in the form of a human praise combined with a food treat are highly effective.

At some point you may have unintentionally trained your pet with positive reinforcement. If your dog or cat claws at a door to a room and you open it, they will associate their action with the reward of being let out of a confined space. The next time they want a door to open, they will repeat the clawing behavior in anticipation of the same reward.

To train pets to do what you want them to do, you’ll need to get them to perform actions in response to commands. Decide on a specific desired behavior and think of a cue word to prompt it. Single syllable commands such as ‘down’ or ’shake’ are easier for animals to understand than two word phrases like ‘lie down’ or ’shake hands’.

Each time your pet displays the desired behavior in response the cue word, you should praise him and immediately feed him a treat. Speed and consistency of reward are important to learning. If you are teaching a dog to lie down, reward him while he is still on the floor in the right position. If you wait until he is sitting up to give him his treat, he won’t know which action to associate with the cue word ‘down’.

To train an animal to get off the furniture, use a straightforward cue word like ‘off’. When you walk into a room to find your pet sitting on the sofa, get one of her food treats and put it in your pocket. Make sure you have the animal’s attention and clearly speak the word ‘off’ before moving her to the floor. Praise her immediately and present her with the treat. Repeat this procedure every time you find her lounging on the couch. Eventually she will respond to the ‘off’ command by jumping to the floor herself.

When an animal has learned to reliably respond to the cue word, you can gradually stop rewarding her with treats. But do persist in offering praise and affection in return for good behavior. Dogs are eager to please their owners and generally require no other motivation. Depending on their individual personalities, and the extent to which they have bonded with their owners, some cats and birds will also continue to obey commands once the food incentive is withdrawn.

Pet training requires a degree of patience and some sessions will go more smoothly than others. When an animal is excited, distracted or tired, he may not perform at his best. Avoid the temptation to chastise your pet if he refuses to cooperate. It could lead him to associate the action you are trying to teach with negative consequences. If your pet gets only positive attention during dog training Kelowna, he will be eager to learn new commands.

Training a puppy can be frustrating, dog training requires discipline and consistancy. When experiencing problems, consult a professional. Bark Busters offer a reliable and affordable service for house puppy training.

Another important factor to training your dog that people often tend to undermine the importance of is socializing them from a young age. It’s just as important as house training your dog and providing him with general K9 training from day one.

What does socializing to a puppy mean exactly? It could mean several things, so you will find a few ideas on the subject below. Let’s take a look at a few of the key concepts to keep in mind here, all of which should help you out.

First thing is to take your dog around other pets and people. Start with a park or maybe even a dog walk. This will help him get used to different sounds and new people.

Taking him to a dog park allows him to learn how to behave around other dogs and gets him used to their behavior so he won’t be frightened.

Show him that it is okay to allow people to pet him by them doing so. He will become more at ease and learn how to behave during visits around others.

Show him how to get used to the people that will be around more often, like family and friends. The more he gets to know them the less he will bark when they come over, and he eventually wont bark at all once he gets to know them.

He needs to be around other dogs as much as possible so that he is more comfortable but this always gets him to become more socialized. The more he’s able to do this from a young age, the more friendly he or she will be around both other animals, and human beings young and old.

Begin the puppy training right away because it is key to a happy and healthy dog. This training is just as important as eating, exercising and love and attention.

The key is to be consistent with the training, as well with the socializing which is an important factor. If you need advice or help with dog training, talk with other owners, a K9 training school or training books.

In addition to dog training, this author also regularly publishes information on faux fur coat and granite sealers.

Get a Good Dog Training Specialist

Get a Good Dog Training Specialist

Deciding on the right person to train your dog can be exhausting since the subject of expert dog training is being spread around by countless advertisers. Here are 6 different ways to know so that you can choose the right expert to assist you with the dog training.

1) In Good Standing. Search for useful information and recommendations which your pet doctor, other pet owners or the local kennel association can give.

2) Skills. Know their professional history and how long they have been using their skills.

3) A real and unchangeable attachment to dogs.

4) Broad and current expertise. Committed trainers keep themselves posted by being involved in courses, conferences, seminars and workshops on how to train dogs and manage animal behavior.

5) Procedures in dog training and their expertise in dealing with dogs. A trainer is skillful if his primary concern is the safety of your dog.

6) A participant in dog training associations, organizations and clubs of good standing.

Universal dog training suggestions

Dog training should be an experience that you and your dog will enjoy and have positive impact. Don’t start the training if you don’t feel like it. It is important to give prizes to your dog whenever he quickly learns your commands. A reward can be anything that your dog will crave and make him enthusiastic in his training. Treats are common prizes and some other rewards you can give are spoken praises and playthings. Numerous and shorter sessions are better than one that is prolonged. Maltreatments like slapping and yelling at your dog are not allowed, especially tugging at the chains of his collar or electrocution. Make an effort in doing each session with fun and encouraging atmosphere.

Tips in using head collars in dog training

It can bring bad experiences to your dog if jolting on his collar chains is involved in his training. For a few years now, head collars for dog training has been used by many people. More can be gained in using a head collar over the traditional training collar. You need to initially present the head collar to your dog so he can get used to it and put it in a comfortable fit. Aside from being innate to use, head collars are also efficient in dealing with your dog at hard times.

When you first decided to get a puppy, you probably weren’t aware of all the responsibilities that went along with being a dog owner. There are a lot of things that need to be done on a daily basis to take care of a dog and on top of all of that they can be very expensive.

Unlike humans, dogs can not fully grasp certain concepts. For example, you dog doesn’t understand that they can not leave your property for their own good. They don’t know that they will encounter many dangers if they wander off. They can get lost, hit by a car or worse.

The fact that you can not explain the dangers of leaving the backyard to your pet forces you to keep them leashed when they are outside and unsupervised. Being leased up in the backyard makes it very hard for your pet to run and get the proper exercise that they desperately need.

If you could just get your dog to understand that it is dangerous for them to leave the property, it wouldn’t be so bad leaving them outside. They would know that they needed to stay in the yard and you could leave them be unleashed. You wouldn’t need to worry and they could have much more fun.

If being able to let your dog run free in the yard, worry free, is something that interests you, you may want to consider purchasing a wireless dog fence. A wireless dog fences uses a wireless signal much like that of a cordless phone to help teach your dog the boundaries of your property.

Wireless dog fences are made up of two main parts, a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter transmits a wireless signal much like a cordless phone and the dog collar acts as a receiver. If your dog wanders outside of the transmitters range they will hear a warning beep and if the continue to roam away they will get a correction shock.

The amazing thing about wireless dog fences is that they show you just how smart your pet really is. You will be amazed how quickly your dog learns their boundaries and within as short a period as a few days will rarely even roam any where near them.

Using wireless dog fences and never having to worry about your dog running away or wandering off is an amazing thing. They will be able to run freely in the yard without being tied down in any way.

If you are looking to learn more about electric dog fence, you should take a look at invisible dog fence.

Extreme Red Eye Technique of puppy potty training is radical. Discover top secret tricks that work as advertised. Learn unorthodox methods that get results. This article shows steps that produce a potty pooping pooch within 4 weeks.

The basic idea is take an 8 week old puppy outdoors every 60 minutes and let it relieve itself. Do this while the pup is awake and active. Continue this process for 4 consecutive weeks. Listed below are major details for extreme housebreaking.

How To Create An Unbroken Length Of Days To Serve As Training Period

One must carve out a long stretch of consecutive days. Dedicate these days towards housebreaking an 8 week old puppy. Here is one way a working person can create a string of 9 consecutive days. Find a 4 day holiday weekend, during which all employees are away from their job site Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Ask management for a 4 day vacation from Tuesday through Friday. The result is 9 consecutive days when a working person does not have to report to their job. These 9 days serve as the housebreaking training period during which you will be at home not at work. 9 days seems to be the minimum length that gets good results. 4 weeks gives guaranteed results.

Retrieve Whelp Age 8 Weeks Simultaneously With Kickoff Of Educating Period

Bring the baby canine into its new home surroundings at initiation of training. Bring it home, in this case, Friday afternoon subsequent to leaving work. Wait no later than Saturday morn. Custom dictates that transfer of a woefully immature dog is not advisable. 8 weeks seems to be an optimum age. Some principal justifications to postpone transfer are to give puppies a chance to bond and wean. Younger pups cannot withstand stress of being uprooted and dropped inside new permanent surroundings.

Maybe the optimum recommended time of year to start up the Red Eye bathroom teaching program is the hot weather vacation calendar months. Undertaking this regime during warm times of the year makes the task easier and provides many obvious benefits. A not so easily realized benefit is a well mannered household pet. Big groupings of people travel to visit each other continually during warm conditions.

A holder of a youthful whelp can take advantage of these frequent visitors by using visitors to socialize their immature pet puppy. Some pet experts propose that bunches of people and animals regularly interact with an 8 week old young dog. Puppies, between age 4 to 12 weeks, specially require outside stimuli. Age 4 to 12 weeks is a crucial open window of opportunity. External human stimuli that fly through this open window make a young canine calm and accepting of human society. The opening snaps shut like a bear trap at age 12 weeks.

Transport Dog Outside To Unburden Itself Each 60 Minutes

A Siberian Husky dog, housebroken with the Red Eye Technique, soiled a rug. It hid itself from its companion for 10 minutes, too afraid to be seen. The owner realized she fed her dog a big breakfast but forgot to take it outside to relieve itself. A clock showed a current time far past the noon hour. So the companion sat in the middle of her living room floor and begged her dog to forgive her.

The husky stayed out of sight. You know I have never penalized you, said its owner, or shouted at or hit you. After she spoke these words she saw a doggy face appear from in back of a sofa. Eventually a whole body came forth. Husky dog never urinated on the rug again because the owner started taking the dog out on a regular schedule, especially after a big meal.

Pet owners must transport or walk their dog out of doors at 60 minute intervals for the next 9 days. Lead the doggy along a specified route to its predetermined potty point. Hold off exiting for at least 5 minutes. Next, the dog and trainer can walk together and return to indoors with family members. Grounds for naming this technique the Red Eye Technique should by now be known. Want of slumber reddens the eyes of pet owners. Most persons become sleep impoverished training their puppy using the Red Eye Technique. The technique requires stamina. Give full attention towards potty training the little puppy. Only do unimportant household chores in the home on account of suffering from sleep deficit.

Special Cases And Extra Notes

Use common sense if weather is rainy or cold. Wrap up puppy and keep making hourly trips to outdoors. It is better to hand convey puppies to the preselected out of doors place much of the time. Wait at least 5 minutes while trainer quietly and verbally encourages the puppy to urinate or defecate. Give ridiculous amounts of gentle rubbing and verbal praise for going potty. Ignore pup and give it no attention if it does not go potty.

Let a sleeping puppy sleep, let a sick puppy recuperate. One school of thought says never scold puppies for going potty where it should not go. Pick up dog and take it outside for 5 minutes. Bring pooch inside and place in different room. Clean the soiled spot while the dog is unable to see what is being cleaned. Retrieve dog but keep it away from soiled patches.

Rules say take the puppy out 15 or 20 minutes after it eats a big meal. Choose one spot to relieve dog. Choose an inconspicuous spot. Grass could wither and change to a sickly color.

Waking hours are mostly between 7:00 A. M. To about 8:00 P. M. So take the immature dog outside at 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, Noon, and up to 8:00 P. M. Lay puppy to bed permanently after the 8:00 P. M. Outdoor walk. Repeat the process on tomorrow morning starting when the pup arises and awakes completely.

One of the initial situations that you must learn to deal with when purchasing a new puppy is house training. This is an effort to train the puppy to use the bathroom outside instead of inside. Most people find this process frustrating. However, if you have the patience and prepare properly, you can get the job done without too much trouble. You might be interested in some info on housebreaking a puppy.

There is no shortage of ideas and opinions on this subject. Some techniques are useful, while other are not. Often, these myths are cruel and ineffective. Take a look at some information and techniques that have been proven to be effective much of the time. Understand, however, that your success will depend on many variables.

Puppies, especially before 12 weeks of age, have a very hard time controlling their bowels and bladder. In time they will develop more control, but accidents are a certainty in the beginning. You need to approach this process with the proper mindset of understanding and patience. You will also need to exhibit consistency with your demeanor and techniques. Also understand that genetics, attitude, and temperament will play a big part in the issue. Some dogs simply pick up the habit better than others, which is something to consider when selecting a dog.

You should immediately begin implementing a schedule that will help the dog learn its responsibilities. Key times to take the dog out are first thing in the morning and immediately after eating, which are key times that the dog will need to go relieve itself. Between these times, take the puppy outside every couple of hours or so, depending on its needs. With a bit of anticipation, this process can be much simpler and easier to get through.

Watch your dog for typical signs that they need to go, including sniffing, pacing, and circling an area of the floor. If you catch them doing this, take them outside. When you catch the puppy in the middle of an accident, firmly tell him “no” and quickly take the puppy outside. Remember that you should never hit the dog and avoid other cruel tactics that simply do not work. Also remember that you should not punish a dog for using the bathroom inside if you did no specifically catch the dog in the middle of the act. If you take action after the fact, the dog will simply have no clue why it is being punished.

Many people utilize kennels and puppy pads. Dogs generally do not want to use the bathroom in a small area like a kennel, making them ideal for times when you leave the house. If you are gone for more than 4-6 hours, the dog may have no choice but to relieve itself, so be prepared for this. Be sure to take the dog outside before you leave and after you get home. Puppy pads are also a great tool for teaching a puppy to use the bathroom outside. An interesting trick is slowly and methodically moving the pad toward the door. Eventually, the dog will automatically go to the door when it needs to go.

Although housebreaking a puppy is difficult, it is far from impossible. Utilize these tips to make your job much easier. Quickly get the dog on an ideal schedule that will work for everyone involved. Also make use of great products like puppy pads and kennels to make the process easier. If you approach the issue with patience, understanding, and love, your dog will be trained before you know it.

Some people love lap dogs. They like to pick them up, dress them in outfits and put them in their purse. Other people prefer a pet that is more substantial. They like an athletic dog they can jog with or feel the security of knowing that a large animal will deter strangers.

If you are interested in owning a large dog, here are a few suggestions to help you pick the one that’s right for you and your family.

Forget everything you’ve heard about Rottweilers. They are a big breed with an even bigger reputation for being fierce. They can be good watch dogs but they are also loving and loyal pets. With the correct training, Rottweilers make great pets and can be very gentle.

If you’re looking for a watchdog you could do no better than to buy a German Shepherd. This breed is athletic and energetic. Once trained, they make suitable pets for many families who have big yards and lots of time to spend with them.

German Shepherds are very protective and will guard your home and family. With the proper training they make good pets, as well. German Shepherds are energetic, so if you want one, be prepared to take them on plenty of walks.

Vizslas are a large breed that you are sure to love. They are friendly and gentle with children. They usually live a long time – about 12 to 15 years and get along well with other animals.

Dog de Bordeaux. Also known as the French Mastiff, this breed is huge and adorable. They have sweet dispositions, as well. They are lovable and enjoy children.

The French Mastiff is considered gentler than other breeds like bull dogs and they have the added benefit of not shedding. They do tend to drool, however.

So, good luck in selecting your next pet. A large breed dog is a good choice for many people because of all of the love and companionship they bring. Hopefully, these suggestions will help you make the right decision for you.

Dogs do everything for their owners because all they want to do is make them happy. They also love getting affection and attention back, so here are a couple of things that can be done to show the dog how much they mean to you.

Since dogs enjoy being pet, don’t be afraid to ruffle their fur a little bit. Scratch their back or pet their heads and you will have a best friend for life.

Because dogs are more sensitive to other signs besides oral communication, they have developed a connection between touching and closeness to emotional happiness, and petting your dog does a lot more than just show attention. It actually speaks to them.

The best way to really pet your dog is to get them next to you and start petting them. You will notice how they move closer to you and sometimes crowd you. This is a good thing.

There is a difference between petting your dog and giving them a reward for good behavior, and you shouldn’t confuse the two. You can and should pet your dog frequently, and for no reason at all. Remember this when you come home and say hi.

Walking your dog is something you need to do for a lot of reasons. Beyond exercise, there are other things that your dog needs that walking satisfies, such as bonding, exercise, and giving them something exciting to do and see. They need this and you will make a dog very happy and content when you take them out every day.

Also, think about taking your dog special places from time to time. There are lots of things that they love, like going to the park to play, or even to visit other dogs somewhere. Also, feeding them treats even if it is not for a reward is something that they will love too.

The ultimate treat for the dog would be by getting another dog that they can play with.

The writer also often publishes articles about topics such as Not My Daughter’s jeans and Chip and Pepper jeans.
