How Dogs Easily Master New Commands

Most people say that an old dog can still learn some new tricks but you cannot teach the cat any tricks. This is because the pet owners know that it is very difficult to get the cat to learn and most of the feline lovers have all but given up on this. Well, the real facts are that cats can be taught anything you want them to learn.

If you learn to practice the simple rules of behavioral training, you should use the rewards to instill good behavior and punishments to make them obey instructions. Give the cat rewards or treats when called and it obeys.

The next step would be to choose what you want to get the cat to do. If you want to be able to walk the cat on a leash for example, you would just go purchase a collar and put it by the cat’s bed.

Once it gets use to seeing the collar there, you would need to keep putting it around its head before it feeds. Then you would start allowing it to wear the collar for a few days for it to get attached to the collar. After this you would just slip the leash to the collar and that is it; you are ready to go.

Training the cat to use the toilet is normally another hurdle which needs to be passed. You would need to put the litter box by the toilet on the floor and then lift up the toilet lid.

Follow this by introducing a pile of newspapers to raise the box higher to the level of the toilet bowl.

You would need to keep the litter box in place by using a metal bowl for a while till the cat gets used to it, then just remove the box and the kitten will start using the toilet automatically.

Of course you will have to be very patient and take a lot of time to get this done, but it will be rewarded when the cat begins to do exactly what it is told.

May 2010 saw a group of English volunteers descend upon the Scooby shelter to volunteer in Mediterranean temperatures. Thankfully we were fortunate to have some guys in the group who started to build the much needed brick shelters to replace the old “wooden dog houses”. These will provide shelter from the elements and shade from the sun for the dogs. They almost finished two “back to back” buildings and dug the footings for the next two kennels. The girls didn’t take the light duties either. They were doing heavy duty poop scooping, cleaning and strimming the grass to keep the seed down to protect the dogs. In between these jobs, the ladies were feeding the dogs and administering tick and flea treatment along with copious amounts of tender loving care. We were also pleased to learn that Scooby held a fund-raising stall at a youth festival in Cuellar over the same weekend and raised a total of €500. This is fantastic because it means that Scooby had the opportunity to target the right audience in terms of education and its attempts to bring about a change of attitude towards animal welfare in Spain. Even more surprising is that locals were donating money for animals. This was unheard of when we started visiting Scooby more than 10 years ago. Luckily the food crisis at Scooby has subsided for the time being. While Scooby has enough dog food for the next 4 months, we need to keep the momentum behind the appeal for food donations. We hope that spreading the word and pictures

The Way To Breed Dogs The Good Method

Everyone loves puppies, however, many don’t realize the amount of planning and work goes into preparing to breed a litter. Before breeding dogs, it’s important for the breeder to do the proper research and ensure that they’re pairing both most compatible dogs possible. This is often a time consuming and sometimes hard task, but it’s worthwhile eventually to produce a littler of beautiful, healthy puppies.

Before any person sets out to breed dogs, they must ensure that they’re doing this for the right reasons. Many people attempt to breed their dog because they want a different one just like it or they want their children to witness the miracle of birth. The only reason that anyone ought to ever breed a dog is if they really believe that they’re increasing the breed by breeding their own dogs.

Before breeding dogs, it’s important to understand any hereditary issues that usually affect a specific breed. Many breeds have problems with their eyes and also their hips & joints, heart conditions, allergies and epilepsy. If even one of several dogs is a carrier for a specific disease, it shouldn’t be bred because there’s a strong possibility that the puppies will also carry the disease.

Both dogs must also have a complete medical examination prior to breeding, especially to check and make sure that they don’t have brucellosis. Brucellosis is a ailment that may cause sterility in male and female dogs. It can cause puppies to be aborted or to die soon after they’re born, so it is extremely important that a dog with brucellosis isn’t permitted to breed.

A breeder must also carefully research the pedigree of both dogs before breeding. They need to try to look for dogs that will exhibit the strengths of the breed and offset the weaknesses. It is very important to find the perfect representation of the breed and ensure that they’re compatible. For instance, if they’re both carriers of the same hereditary disease, they shouldn’t be bred.

If you’re wondering the way to know whether your pet has fleas and other insects here are some simple methods for you.

Take a close look:

Firstly, take a close look at your dog. Check the parts around your dog’s ears, neck, legs, at the base of the dog’s hair and the base of its tail. These areas need specific focus since fleas and other insects focus on these areas. Fleas and other insects are extremely small and black in color. These quick-moving insects aren’t simple to identify. However, if you see closely you will see them. You can even search for flea dirt on the ground.

Utilize Flea Comb:

Take a damp paper and put it on the ground. Now make your pet stand on top of the damp towel. Then you definitely should clean your pet with a flea comb. Notice cautiously. If you observe that small specks of black are turning red, ensure that your pet has fleas and other insects.

For Indoor Pets:

Clean up your pet one or more times in a week. Cleaning your home on once a week basis is usually necessary. There are several natural flea control shampoos and conditioners available in the market. Use any of those shampoos to wash your pet. Make sure you vacuum and clean the floors, particularly the area where your pet rests.

You should wash your pet’s bed in soapy warm water. You can combine lavender oil to it as important oils are great as natural flea resistant. Other methods you need to use include steam cleaning your carpet. Make certain your home isn’t damp.

For Outdoor Pets:

You are able to follow the same guidance for outdoor pets. On the other hand, you should just go for a weekly lawn cleaning routine. Your lawn must get sufficient experience of sunlight so the heat can kill flea larvae. Also, water your lawn occasionally. Don’t try to reduce ants in your lawn because they eat flea larvae.
