The Drinkwell Platinum works fine, except that water level is usually at, and occasionally over the top of the bowl. Why, you ask? Probably the combination of the relatively hard aquafier water in this region (southern New Mexico) and the elevation of 4,000 feet. (Remember that high school physics lesson about atmospheric pressure pushing down on everything --- we just have a little less pressure here at 4,000 feet.) So, I give the product three stars, since the manufacturer didn't mention this limitation.

I've never won money in an agility trial and hope never to do so. It would completely take away from the relationship I have built with my dog. In fact, I have paid a lot of money and time training to earn a little green ribbon. It is worth every penny. In Houston, there is a club. They put on a trial for 4 days in Houston every July. I would google them. Get good training and give you and your dog a chance to become more than pet and owner.

Some AKC trials that have the ISC classes may have a prize of $50.00 depending on the club.

1. No, you don't win money in AKC trials. Period.

2. Everyone who does agility loses money, in large amounts. A local trial that you don't need a hotel for, can drive to, with only one dog, for both days plus cheap food and gas will probably run you $150 (some will be much more). And serious handlers go to 2-3 trials a month, about half of which will require hotels.

3. There are a few events in a few trials you can earn money at. It's usually something like a tournament (like Grand Prix) that involves competing two days, you don't get the money until the second day, and it's based upon how many people enter. I've been doing agility for 3 years and I won $35 once. I know someone who once won $72.

Basically, you don't do agility for the money. There are few sponsors, no media coverage, no donations and when trials make money the club either pours it back into the club or it goes in the form of a donation to an animal shelter or rescue.

4. There are tons of good agility trainers in the Houston area. You can go to www.cleanrun.com and check there (their list is outdated but it's a start). Or go to www.agilityevents.net and find a trial in Houston. Go to observe and ask competitors: "where do you take classes? Who would you recommend in Houston?"

No, there are usually no money prizes, however your dog can earn agility titles to their name.

I would go to AKC.com to get a link for agility clubs in your area.

This thing does not filter the water, is impossible to get clean and probably releases toxins because there are no certifications regarding the plastics used not to mention that its made in China which has shipped toxin laden products all too often.

For the prize, it all depends on the show and what the sponsors are offering - some times it's cash, sometimes is a trophy, it varies from show to show.

As for trainers, I would ask your vet if they have any recommendations. You can also do a zip code search on www.apdt.com for local trainers. Also, www.akc.org will let you do a search for sanctioned clubs in your area that offer various types of training.

No, there is not a monetary prize with winning in Agility.

I would google "Agility Trainers Houston Tx" to see what you can come up with for local trainers.

When they state that to cut down costs, the item will be packaged in a plain box...they weren't kidding. I purchased mine from this site. The cost of the fountain was only $0.00, but the Shipping & Handling was $0.00 bringing the total to $0.00 Still not a terrible price, however I thank UPS Ground Service for their careful handling of the "white box." The Fountain, as the instructional manual stated, comes fully assembled." NO WAY! Upon picking up the box, I could hear parts rattling around inside. Upon opening the box, the Fountain was in pieces...not broken but laying around in an empty box with no bubble wrap, or protection whatsoever. With fountain together. I must admit that the Drinkwell Platinum is sturdy, for nothing wthe instructions, (that were found falling out of the box), I put theas broken. I also noted that this website, I purchased it from, charged S&H for a seven pound object even though the weight was under 4 pounds. I will ammend the usefullness of the fountain once my cats start drinking from it. What is confusing is that in reading about the fountain having 4 rubber feet, then why do the instructions reccomend that the fountain be placed on a "placemat" or "towel" if it's to be placed on a wooden floor, tile floor or carpet? Why the rubber feet then? The instructions also state that if your house uses "hard" water, then they suggest that you purchase "bottled water" to prevent the motor from burning up.
<br />I would have much rather had the original boxing, for it couldn't have weighed that much, as well as a website sponsored here that was reliable in their packaging procedures. Overall, Amazon has ALWAYS been amazing yet in allowing a website that treats NEW items as though they could survive being thrown into a cardboard box & handled by UPS...well the blame for a damaged item would be between UPS and ThePetStoreOnline for reimbursement. In closing, I REALLY do believe that this fountain is TOUGH, to survive a trip from Georgia to here! (Must be Dishwasher Safe!)
