Dog potty training is no longer possible when your dog is not a puppy anymore. Although there are methods to do this, it would take a lot of time and willpower to teach your dog new tricks. Training rule number 2 is for you and your pup to go out in your backyard early in the morning or as soon as the both of you are awake already. Do this after he finishes his first meal as well. Dogs, especially puppies, love taking naps. Be sure that when your puppy wakes up from his nap that you take him out for a walk in your backyard. If you love giving your pup lots of snacks, wait for 15 minutes for him to digest it and then go out for a walk with your dog again so he could do his pooping in the yard or wherever you want him to.

Rule 4 is to let your dog eat when you have the time to take a walk. When it comes to water intake for your doggie, control his water intake when he is still untrained but be sure to have a lot of time in your hands because dogs need to be hydrated too.

If your dog is still not potty trained this becomes a big problem during summertime because dogs need to drink lots of water to keep their body at the right temperature. You can save cleaning time by having your dog learn how to tap on something or maybe ring a bell when he needs to pee. What needs to be done in this case is before you bring your dog to his peeing area, make him ring a bell. Do it every time you two go out so that he will make it into a routine. Once your dog had a poop accident i.e. pooping in a prohibited space, ignore your dog and clean up his mess as quietly as possible. Punishing or yelling your dog will not make him learn it will only confuse him. For some dogs, you yelling or being mad might be a bit amusing because hey, they cannot understand your language!

Avoid Pet Shops. It is extremely rare for reliable breeders to sell their dogs through pet shops. Unreliable breeders – the people you do not want to do business with – sell their pups this way.

If you are thinking mutt, and thinking puppy, it can be difficult to guess what size they grow to. Puppies can grow to 4 times their mother’s size. It can also be difficult to guess what type of personality traits an individual dog has inherited. A possible advantage of the mutt is that they can be hardier and healthier than a pure-bred.

It is a good idea to adopt a dog from a shelter or a rescue organization. Just make sure you learn as much as possible about the dog before you bring him home. Remember, you may be saving their life.
