Dog Training Ultimate Guide

Poor Romeo was one of 8 dogs who lived his life on a chain in southern OH with an owner who moved out and abandoned all 8 dogs still chained to their makeshift dog houses. We heard about this situation through an urgent plea for help from the local humane society. They were looking for rescues to take some of these dogs so we offered to take Romeo and his friend Beauty. Sadly, ALL 8 dogs tested positive for heartworms so were in need of lifesaving treatment as well as basic veterinary care. In spite of the neglect he’s suffered in the past, Romeo is ready to leave that life far behind in the rearview mirror and make the most of the second chance he’s been given. Romeo is a delightful little 2 year-old guy (weighing in at only about 20 pounds) who loves everyone he meets–including other dogs. He’s always got a smile on his face and tries so hard to please. We’re not sure what his house manners are just yet, as he’s still undergoing cage rest from the heartworm treatment, but he’s been the perfect little gentleman in his crate. Not a single accident. It breaks your heart to think of the life he’d been leading so we’re committed to seeing that both he and Beauty end up living the good life with great families in the future. They sure deserve it! Romeo’s heartworm treatment (back-to-back immiticide injections) was done on February 1-2. He will be recuperating for the month and will go back to the vets for a check up on February 28th.
