My dog and I moved about a month ago. Everything went fine at first. He was a little freaked out at first, but then everything just fell all to hell. He has developed separation anxiety, and other symptoms point to canine OCD. The biggest problem however is that he has also started going to the bathroom in the house. He has never gone to the bathroom in the house before, but now it’s almost a regular thing. I am planning to start again. I also hear that it may be a medical thing. He is not an overly submissive dog, so I know it’s not a symptom of that. He’s a labrador retriever, and separation anxiety fairly common for the breed. I’m just greatly concerned about the peeing in the house thing. We’ve moved before, and he has never forgotten his house training until now. What do I do?
read users comments (2)I have a 5 month old mixed breed dog. He is part Jack Russell, part miniature doberman. We have had him since he was 6 weeks old.
We have tried every single step of advice for house training you can think of but he’s still not getting it. Nothing at all has worked. I know he is still a puppy and maybe he just hasn’t learned, but I think he should know by now.
It is so bad that I can take him outside and wait for up to an hour for him to pee, only to come back inside and him pee right by the door. He pees all over the house, almost as if he can’t control it at all. And he poops everywhere in here too. He will poop right on the bed or couch. Not only that but he would roll in it and lay in it if I would let him. That’s not normal dog behavior, is it??
Is it possible that there is a medical problem with our dog? Is there any such thing? Has anyone else experienced this? What kind of problem could it be?
My french bulldog has been house trained for almost a year now. He has not relieved himself in the house in the longest time, and always lets me know when he needs to go out. These past couple days he has done his business indoors. Anyone have any ideas why the sudden change?
My dog will be a year old on August 28th. He’s a mini daschund.
Up until around 3 weeks ago, we’ve lived in an apartment, or a townhouse, with no back yard. So, when we trained him as a puppy, we trained him to go on pee-pee pads, instead of training him to pee outside. Which worked out well.
He caught on quick, and only peed and pooped on his pad. Even on walks he would hold it til he got back to his pad. But, as soon as we moved into this new place he started peeing and pooping on the floors.
I know he needs time to get used to the new place, but it’s been like 3 weeks and he hasn’t made much progress. I’ve gone back to the pad training basics… but nothing has changed.
Another difference is that this place has all hardwood floors. You can tell that he doesn’t like it much, since has always had a carpeted home.
Example: He won’t lay on the flooring or do his tricks on the hard floor. The only place he will lay now is on furniture or area rugs.
Any suggestions
My dog is an outside dog and it rains during the winter months. Every time I come home he’s sitting next to his doghouse wet. I don’t know how to train him to use the dog house. Plz don’t give answers about keeping him inside.
Just to clear the air we keep him inside when we’re home, we leave him outside when we’re not home which is about 8 hours.
