Incontestably, having a puppy requires a lot of attention, devotion and patience. Not to mention the fact that dog house training is hard to do proper, without any guidance. So here are some tips on how you can raise a disciplined puppy by yourself.
First rule is to let your puppy know when he has done something wrong. But let him know without beating him. This is a common mistake dog owners do. For this you might even end up in jail for animal cruelty. So dog house training excludes beating your pet. Instead admonish your dog every time he does something inappropriate and show him that you are disappointed of him. Dogs are as smart as five year old kids, so they will get the point.
Another dog house training advice is to reward him whenever he listens to you. This way he’ll know that his attitude was right and will do it again and again because, isn’t it right, dogs love treats. You can bet that rewards will function better than admonishments.
Second basic rule in dog house training is to communicate with your dog. Do not expect him to understand everything you say. In time, he will get used to some words or phrases that you repeat. Commands should be simple words for him to learn quicker such as “no, sit, stay, come” He will understand questions like do you want to go outside? “. That is if you associate to the actual actions. See how your dog responds to those questions. If he gets excited when asked if going out, after you repeated the question several times, then you can bet he wants to go.
Do doubt about it, dog house training is hard, so it would be likely if this is your first pet to get your dog trained by professionals. However, if you can’t afford doing so, make sure you have the necessary time to raise a pet. It is easier to train a pet when they are young and not when they are grown caninies. Efficient training is done until the age of two, after that, building your dog’s personality will become harder and harder.
