yes it is very possible!
you just have to stick with it and not give in to the puppy eyes lime it did.

why not train them both at once with different houses of course they might learn from each other

a puppy will follow the older one and lear behavior from him – so why not set up 2 crates and train them both at once
have them both on the same schedule,,and I think you will have great success

You can crate train the puppy. You can still crate train the lab if you want to. It’s not going to change whether the lab is jealous of the puppy or not. You are getting a puppy that is far too young yet to leave it’s mother. You should consider buying a puppy somewhere else, or leaving the puppy with the so called breeder til it is 8 weeks of age minimum.
You have to be the one that treats both dogs the same. This will help to avoid jealousy between the dogs.

i have a 13 yr old sheltie (wasn’t crate trained) got a puppy a couple of months ago. the puppy is crated. had no problem doing so, and yes i think at bedtime the older dog thought that she was the greatest being on her own
